MORGAN, Utah –A semi-truck hauling a flammable solid product rolled on WB I-84 just before 5:30 a.m. this morning in Morgan County. The driver left his lane of travel, went onto the right shoulder, and came to rest upside-down in Croydon.
Utah Highway Patrol Spokesman Nick Street said HAZMAT crews had responded and discovered an emulsion substance leaking. Emergency crews closed both directions of I-84 for safety reasons between Morgan and Henefer.
Street said the spill was contained and eastbound lanes reopened at 7:40 a.m. However westbound lanes were expected to stay closed for five to six hours for clean up.
Street said the driver of the semi was not injured and fatigue is suspected as a factor in the crash. The emulsion is being off-loaded and the tanker is in the process of being removed.
I-84 is CLOSED both EB & WB. Drivers heading west away from Henefer will be forced to exit at Croydon Rd. If you are heading east away from Morgan you must exit at Rees Lane. Expect delays in both directions. pic.twitter.com/FHVb8nVYGy
