SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake announced Wednesday they have turned the once “Real Salt Lake” white seats on the east side of the stadium blue. The color change is to enhance the broadcast production and assist the display of virtual graphics for television viewers.

Real Salt Lake wants you to wear blue

Due to the color change, the club is asking spectators on the east side of the stadium to refrain from wearing the color white. However, if your favorite RSL shirt is white and you wear it to the game, the club will provide you with a blue shirt.

The news sparked attention on social media with fans consolidating to wear white shirts to the game so they can receive a blue shirt in return.

Home opener coming up

According to KSL Sports, RSL is preparing to host Sporting Kansas City in the home opener this upcoming Saturday. This weekend, 10,000 fans will trickle into Rio Tinto Stadium to watch their favorite club.

Since the pandemic, this will be the first sporting event for many ecstatic fans. A few weeks ago, the club announced the increase in attendance and hopes to further increase the number.

The stadium and team have followed the CDC and State Health Department recommendations.
