Lori Vallow Daybell could face charges related to death of late husband

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Lori Vallow Daybell could potentially face a conspiracy to commit first-degree murder charge over the death of her late husband Charles Vallow. The Chandler Police Department announced they submitted their investigation of Charles Vallow’s death, along with the charge against Daybell, to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Thursday.
On top of Daybell’s indictment of first-degree murder over the death of her two kids earlier this week in Idaho, if approved by the Attorney’s Office, she will face an additional murder charge.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office did not disclose when the decision on the conspiracy charge would come.
“There is not a timeline for a charging decision at this time,” MCAO spokeswoman Jennifer Liewer said in an email to KTAR.
Metro Phoenix prosecutors will also consider if they will pursue charges against Lori Daybell for the death of her former husband.
Nearly two years ago, Charles Vallow was shot and killed by Lori Daybell’s brother Alex Cox in Arizona. Cox told police he fired the fatal shot in an act of self-defense. Criminal charges were never filed against Cox before his death on Dec. 12, 2019, in Gilbert, Arizona. The medical examiner said Cox died of natural causes due to blood clots in his lungs. Cox was 51.
Police did not go into the details of their investigation on Lori Daybell and the death of Charles Vallow. However, prior to his death on July 11, 2019, he expressed concerns about Lori’s mental state and filed for divorce in February of that year.
Soon after his death, Lori Daybell moved her two kids, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow to Idaho, where they were last seen in September of 2019. Their bodies were found on the property of Chad Daybell, Lori’s current husband who also faces conspiracy, murder and grand theft charges in connection to the deaths of the two children.
