SALT LAKE CITY — Police in Salt Lake City are investigating a deadly shooting Saturday morning.

It happened at a house party near 2400 East 1700 South. Police Lt. Gary Trost says officers got the call just after midnight that there was a fight, and a 19-year-old man had been shot.

“Detectives were called out and are currently working this case, so far no arrests have been made,” Lt. Trost says.

The man later died at the hospital, and his identity is not being released at this time.  By 9:20 a.m. Saturday, KSL Newsradio’s Lindsay Aerts reports there were police officers knocking on doors in the neighborhood of the crime scene.  She also found some witnesses who saw blood, helped render aid, and heard gunshots.

Aaron Pedersen says he heard people yelling, then about seven or eight shots fired as we was working on his irrigation system.  He then called police as witnesses were fleeing the scene.  A lime green Dodge Challenger in a nearby yard pulled away with two males inside.  Pedersen says a short time later that car crashed a couple of times into a nearby brick wall.

Another witness says he heard gunshots then saw bloody foot prints.  Christopher Wagner told KSL Newsradio that his wife, in the nursing profession, tried to render aid.

“We saw the kid that was on the ground, my wife was helping, trying to keep him awake.  There were three gunshots in the beginning from what I heard, we saw a lot of blood,” says Wagner.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
