PARK CITY, Utah — The Summit County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday night, former Utah Jazz center Mark Eaton, age 64, was found unconscious and lying on a road in the Silver Creek Estates neighborhood of Summit County.

A resident contacted emergency officials who responded to the scene.  They transported Eaton to a hospital, where he died.

Officials say it looked like Eaton had been riding a bicycle and had crashed. Summit County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Andrew Wright said there were no witnesses to the crash, and no reason to believe that a vehicle was involved in the crash.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner.

By Saturday mid-morning, tributes were posted on social media to honor and grieve Eaton, who played his entire NBA career with the Utah Jazz.  At 7’4″, Eaton was one of the tallest players in the history of the National Basketball Association.
