SALT LAKE CITY — A climber with a broken ankle was rescued Saturday morning by the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue.
Officials said two climbers were on a route called Jesus or Jeopardy, on a wall known as The Egg, when one climber fell near one of the route’s upper bolts. That climber hit a small ledge during the fall, breaking his ankle.
His climbing partner was able to lower the injured man and then call for help.
According to a statement, after search and rescue officials arrived on the scene and splintered the man’s broken ankle, they set up a system to lower the hiker the last 100 feet off of the wall.
He was then transported using a litter and wheel and was returned to the main parking area.
