MORGAN, Utah– Crews are working to put out a human-caused fire sparked along Highway 66 outside of East Canyon State Park Tuesday afternoon. While evacuation orders have been lifted, the fire has burned 835 acres and is 0% contained, according to authorities.

SR-66 is now open as well.

Authorities discovered the fire was started by a piece of track hoe striking a rock with its track and is showing “August-like fire behavior.”

Multiple ground and air resources have been deployed in attempts to control the fire.

Hiking trails within the area are closed for the time being. Authorities are asking people to please avoid the area for public safety. However, East Canyon State Park remains open.
