National Weather Service: smoky skies here until Tuesday, if not longer

SALT LAKE CITY – The National Weather Service Salt Lake City says people can expect to see smoky skies at least until Tuesday if not longer for some parts of the state.
The NWS says the current projection system can show what it will look like the next 48 hours and gets new run lengths every six hours.
1) The model we have that can handle smoke only projects out to 48 hours, with new runs of that length available every 6 hours. This morning’s run can project out to Tues morning. The forecast remains smoky through that time. https://t.co/GVlhjURNG3

The map shows the hazy skies is affecting large amounts of land in the western United States.
Smoke in the air is affecting much of the western U.S. Courtesy of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The NWS says flows over central and southern Utah will begin to head to the southwest and bring moisture and thunderstorms. The agency says those two things should help to clear out the smoky skies much of the state is seeing. However, northern Utah may continue to see the haze “depending on what happens with fire upstreams”.
