OGDEN, Utah –During Wednesday evening’s severe thunderstorm in northern Utah, residents in northeastern Ogden had a brief scare.
They thought they were seeing a tornado. As it turns out, it was a dust devil.
“They don’t nearly have the intensity or the organizational structure of a tornado,” KSL TV’s Chief Meteorologist Kevin Eubank told KSL NewsRadio. “So they don’t last as long. They don’t generally do as much damage.”
Eubank said dust devils start from the ground up, while tornados come from the clouds down.
There is more than a 50 percent chance for rain during the next few days, making another dust devil possible.
