SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s Hogle Zoo celebrated its 90th birthday on Sunday.

To celebrate the occasion, visitors to the zoo got to view exclusive signage placed throughout zoo grounds celebrating 90 years in operation. Limited-edition 90th anniversary merchandise inside the gift shop including T-shirts, water bottles, mugs, were also available for purchase.

“I have a great deal of admiration and appreciation for the Hogle family who saw a need in the community, now 90 years ago, and stepped forward with the gift of land providing the beginnings of the ever-progressing Hogle Zoo,” said Doug Lund CEO and president of Utah’s Hogle Zoo.

Utah’s Hogle Zoo began as a small attraction at Liberty Park in 1911. It found its permanent home in 1931 when the Hogle family donated a pieced of land at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Its current home covers 42 acres of land where visitors can visit more than 800 animals.
