WASHINGTON — The two US senators who represent Utah are weighing in on the nearly one-trillion dollar infrastructure bill.
It was finally unveiled Sunday, and it’s around 2,700 pages and several inches thick.
Utah’s two senators have different opinions. Sen. Mitt Romney worked on it, while Sen. Mike Lee repeatedly asked for more details about what was in it. Both are Republicans.
“I’ve got real concerns with this bill,” said Lee to reporters Sunday night.
Lee has been sounding the alarm for a while on what he calls uncontrollable federal spending.

But Romney worked on the infrastructure bill with Democrats. He says it is not the other 3.5 trillion dollar spending bill in the works.
“If you don’t think our Democrat friends are going to push for that monstrosity with or without this bill, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you,” he said on the Senate floor. “I love this bill — I hate that one.”
Romney says his involvement in this spending bill allowed rural states to have a seat at the table instead of the big coastal cities.
“If the Democrats had written the bill entirely on their own, Utah would have ended up with the short end of the stick,” he said.
The infrastructure bill is now up for debate and amendments.
