Davis School District reports over 100 open jobs weeks before school starts
FARMINGTON, Utah — The Davis School District says they have more than 100 job openings for the upcoming fall school year. Of those openings, there are 87 open cook positions and 30 bus driver jobs.
District Spokesman Chris Williams says the cook shortage could impact school lunches.
“That just means maybe one less person helping students receive the lunch that they look forward to, that could just mean a little longer time waiting in line to get that food.” Williams told KSL Newsradio.
As for the bus driver shortage, Williams says it could mean existing drivers would have to double up routes. He says they’ve had to use mechanics and other school staff who have CDL licenses to fill those jobs.
“We certainly don’t have enough mechanics or office staff to fill those 30 openings though,” he said.
