Since the pandemic began, kids and adults alike are spending more time looking at screens, especially as virtual school and meetings have been on the rise. A recent survey found that 44 percent of children are using electronic devises for over four hours per day, more than double the rate before the pandemic.

Unfortunately, this causes stress on our eyes and can cause damage over time. The good news is that there are steps you can take to protect and heal your eyes. One way is to apply the 20-20-20 rule – look at least 20 feet in the distance for 20 seconds every 20 minutes spent on the screen.

Another important step is to go outside. It provides bright and full-spectral light, rich patterns, and sharp images of distant objects that protect your eyes from nearsightedness.

Friends for Sight is an organization that is committed to save sight and change lives by providing free vision screenings for kids. To learn more visit friendsforsight.org.
