SALT LAKE CITY — Motorists planning on traveling up Big Cottonwood Canyon this weekend are being reminded that to be on the lookout for clean up crews.

Clean up efforts are still ongoing up the canyon following last weekend’s severe storms that caused flooding and rockslides. The canyon was closed Sunday night from the mouth of the canyon to Guardsman’s pass.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) says crews have been working all week to clear culverts and remove rockfall.

In other parts of Salt Lake County, Butterfield Canyon Road is scheduled to reopen Friday. The road closed after experiencing flooding and damage from last weekend’s storms.

The road had been closed at Herriman traveling west and Tooele traveling east.
