Don’t sink, avoid the “dark sand” at Yuba Lake say state park officials

SALT LAKE CITY — The water has receded to a point at Yuba Lake, according to officials at Yuba State Park, to where visitors to the park need to pay attention to what officials call the “dark sand.”
Of particular concern to park officials is a visitor driving a large recreational vehicle too close to the water’s edge.

“Just because it looks safe, doesn’t mean it is for your enormous trailer and truck to park right along the water’s edge,” the park said in a Facebook post.
Park officials say that a good way to know what sand to avoid in an RV at Yuba is the color of the sand.

If you stay out of the dark sand,” the park said, you will be saved a wrecker fee of “thousands of dollars” to get you unstuck.
Yuba State Park officials advise that those in recreational vehicles that wish to be close to the water’s edge should stay “a couple hundred yards back or more, depending on the size and weight of your rig.”
