Sports have the power to transform lives. It’s often not the sport itself, but the benefits of connecting with others, challenging yourself, and improving your physical health. Special Olympics Utah aims to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of those with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports.

Their athletes find joy and fulfillment on the playing field and in life. Sports instill confidence, improve health, and inspire a sense of accomplishment. The power in participating shifts the focus to what the athletes CAN do, not what they can’t do. Attention to the disability fades and instead their talents and abilities shine through.

There are as many as thirty-thousand people in Utah who could be eligible for and benefit from the sports, health, and leadership programs offered by Special Olympics Utah. Athletes must be eight years of age or older and have an intellectual disability. If you’re interested in participating or learning more visit SOUT.org.

SelectHealth recognizes the transformative experience provided by Special Olympics Utah as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
