Regular physical activity is important to staying healthy. It is associated with better immune function, lower levels of anxiety, and perceived stress. Playing sports is a great way to stay active and people of all abilities should have access to participate. VIP Special Needs Sports League, in conjunction with Springville City, gives those with disabilities the opportunity to play sports by removing the barriers that prevent them from playing on other city league activities.

VIP Special Needs Sports League provides a variety of adjustments to the participants like smaller fields, adaption of equipment, removing constraints of rules, and providing them with a one-on-one buddy. By removing these barriers, they can make new friends, build self-esteem that helps to improve mental well-being and allows the participants to stay healthy and active.

The activities include soccer, basketball, baseball, fishing and swimming. If you’re interested in participating or donating visit Springville.org and search for “Youth Sports”.

SelectHealth recognizes the recreational opportunities provided by VIP Special Needs Sports League as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
