Emotional health means having the ability to express feelings, adjust to emotional challenges, tolerate frustration, cope with life stressors, and enjoy life. Teens and tweens in Utah are struggling and want trusted, informed help. Intermountain Healthcare Primary Children’s Hospital says talking with them about social emotional health is the best way to start.

Ask your child about the movies, books, or daily events. Parents find that having these conversations while driving, making dinner, or while doing something fun is a great way to start. Then, when you notice something is off about your child you can ask what’s going on. Talk about the situation, their feelings, and the responses from everyone involved.

You can become a pro at talking about emotional health and it all starts with knowing how to recognize and identify your own emotions to help your child identify theirs. To learn more visit TalktoTweens.com.

SelectHealth recognizes the emotional wellbeing provided by Intermountain Healthcare Primary Children’s Hospital as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
