SALT LAKE CITY — A 22-year Army veteran from Utah who’s done multiple tours in Afghanistan says today might be especially hard for veterans as they grapple with what their sacrifice meant for that country.

One Master Sergeant, who spoke to KSL NewsRadio and wants to remain nameless, says many of his fellow service members might be feeling like their time and sacrifice, for some the ultimate sacrifice, didn’t matter.

His message to his fellow soldiers is to remember that they did their jobs as soldiers. Still, those who were injured or who came back with other problems will likely be left to wonder why the US didn’t do more to assure that upon leaving, the Afghan government was strong enough to take over.
