KAYSVILLE, Utah — Make no mistake about it, there are a lot of job openings right now.

The Kaysville Police Department has one that maybe you haven’t heard about. The department is hiring for a public safety therapist. The position will be suited so the therapist can handle issues with officers and those in the public they may interact with.

Kaysville Police Chief Solomon Oberg told KSL-TVthe city is trying to think out of the box.

“We need to try to do something to kind of fill in some of the gaps,” he said. “And help people navigate the system.”

Oberg told KSL-TV that he thinks law enforcement is being watched carefully by the public.

“I think what we are seeing right now is everybody is kind of critiquing law of enforcement’s response on a lot of critical instances,” he said. “And a lot of those instances are mental health-related.”
