TOKYO (AP) — Lora Webster is five months pregnant and going for her fifth medal in sitting volleyball in her fifth Paralympics.

This is the second Paralympics in which she’s been pregnant, and the third time during a competition.

Webster and her American teammates face Brazil in the sitting volleyball semifinals as Webster tries for her fifth Paralympic medal.

She won gold five years ago in Rio de Janeiro to go with silver medals in London and Beijing, and a bronze in her first Games in 2004 in Athens.

TOKYO (AP) — Oksana Masters has won her second gold medal of the Tokyo Paralympics. That brings her career total to four gold and 10 medals overall in both summer and winter events.

She won the women’s hand-cycle road race in her class to go with an earlier victory in the time trial. She could win one more gold in Tokyo in the relay event.

Masters began her Paralympic career in 2012 in London with a bronze medal in rowing. She has had equal success in winter events. She won two gold medals at the 2018 Pyeongchang Paralympics.

Afghan athlete Zakia Khudadadi gets her chance in taekwondo

TOKYO (AP) — Afghan athlete Zakia Khudadadi got her chance to compete in the Tokyo Paralympics. Khudadadi is one to two Afghans participating in the Paralympics.

She lost her first-round match in taekwondo to Ziyodakhon Isakova of Uzbekistan 17-12. She also lost a losers’ bracket match against Viktoriia Marchuk of Ukraine 48-34.

Afghan teammate Hossain Rasouli competed a few days ago in the long jump. He finished last but Rasouli is a sprinter who arrived at the Paralympics too late for the 100 meters.
