GRAND COUNTY, Utah — Due to an outbreak of COVID-19, the Grand County School District has canceled high school classes this week (Sept. 7-10).
According to district officials, there are 10 staff members and nine students, who have tested positive at the high school.
The district also says there are also three teachers and four students elsewhere in the district who have also tested positive.
“We are unable to provide substitutes for this many staff members,” a statement from the district said.
All after school activities for the high school, including athletic events, are also canceled. The cancelation also applies to any off-campus events.
A deep cleaning of the high school will be done by the custodians.
As a result, the Health Department along with the Grand County School District will put a mask mandate in place for 30 days. The mandate will begin Wednesday, Sept. 8. Regardless of vaccination status, the mandate includes all students, staff, volunteers, and parents.
School will resume the week of Sept. 13.
