SALT LAKE CITY — An open house for the Pocatello, Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will begin Saturday, Sept. 18.

Open house is for all

The public, members and nonmembers alike, are invited to tour the temple in southeast Idaho. The temple open house will run through Oct. 23, except for Sundays. No tours, however, will be available the weekend of General Conference, Oct. 2-3.

“This is really a special opportunity for me to come home to my birthplace, on my birthday, and to celebrate this beautiful new temple in these majestic foothills of Pocatello,” said Sister Camille N. Johnson, Primary general president and a native of Pocatello in a press release. “I’m delighted for the dear Saints here that will have the blessing of the temple here on their hillside.”

The temple will be dedicated later this year

The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, Nov. 7 in three sessions by President M. Russell Ballard, the acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Ground was broken for Idaho’s sixth temple in the spring of 2019. Additionally, the temple was announced in April 2017 by then Church President Thomas S. Monson. Idaho also has temples in Boise, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Rexburg and Twin Falls. In April, Church President Russell M. Nelson announced a seventh temple to be built in Burley.

According to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple in Pocatello will serve about 61,000 members from the area.
