SALT LAKE CITY — The first freeze of the season is expected to hit Utah tonight and tomorrow morning.  The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the hard freeze warning for higher elevations.

They include Cedar City, Manti, Park City and Logan — among other areas.

Experts say now is the time to bring in potted plants to keep them freezing if you live in the colder valleys.  They also recommend water your outdoor plants this afternoon.

According to the gardening website “Rural Sprout,” keeping the soil moist helps protect plants from the cold.  And don’t forget about your plumbing.  Now’s the time to winterize pipes which may be exposed to the elements.

The NWS of Salt Lake City tweeted this map of all the areas in Utah which will likely see frost tonight.
