SALT LAKE CITY — Standing water caused a number of problems Saturday morning along the Wasatch Front, including a temporary closure of the Eastside belt of I-215 near 3900 South.
In a tweet, Utah Highway Patrol officials said flooding issues and standing water in the area forced the closure.
Earlier, drivers reported ponds of water on I-215 near 3300 South and at the onramp from 2300 East to Westbound I-80 (near milemarker 127). Those areas did not require a road closure.
KSL Vortex Radar showed bands of rain hovering over the region, and particularly heavy on the east side of Salt Lake County. Meteorologist Kevin Eubank expects conditions to dry out by the early evening.
Snow forced crews to close Guardsman Pass, connecting Big Cottonwood Canyon to Park City. Drivers reported snow in both Cottonwood Canyons early Saturday.
