SALT LAKE CITY — Get ready for a cold storm system to come in. A winter storm watch is in effect for many mountain locations in Utah.

That means snow for the mountains and benches, and rain in the valleys. Also, the temperatures will drop on Tuesday.

KSL meteorologists and the National Weather Service say the storm system comes in Monday afternoon. Rain should start to fall around 4 or 5 p.m., turning into snow overnight and into Tuesday.

Anywhere between 8 and 18 inches is expected to land in the mountains in northern Utah. Snow is also expected in some locations along the bench. Mountain passes and summits from Nephi to Cedar City could have winter driving conditions and wind gusts.

Temperatures will fall from 60 degrees on Monday to 46 degrees for Tuesday’s high.

If your kids have been in sweatshirts or jackets, dig out those coats. Another storm arrives Thursday with more rain and snow.
