Overnight SWAT standoff ends, suspect caught by K9

West Valley City, UT — An overnight SWAT standoff ends with the victim safe and the suspect in custody. West Valley City Police responded to call of a domestic violence situation at 3360 South Greenmont Drive in West Valley City early Saturday morning. Police said a female left to get away from her husband.
When police arrived on scene, they found a man armed with a gun refusing to leave the house. After the suspect fired several gunshots, SWAT was called in to help.
Police Lieutenant Sean McCarthy said the suspect involved in the overnight SWAT standoff, tried to run away. “Eventually, he exited the residence through a rear door, and tried to flee on foot and was apprehended by a police K-9.” McCarthy adds the suspect was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries, then booked into jail.
The female victim was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Police are still investigating.
