KABANKALAN, Philippines — The city government of Kabankalan in the Philippines has reported that Lola Francisca Susano, the woman believed to be the oldest person alive, has died.

“It is with sadness in our heart when we received the news that our beloved Lola Francisca Susano passed away early this Monday evening November 22,” the city wrote on Facebook.

Susano was the oldest living person in the Phillippines and possibly the world as reported by CNN Philippines. She was born on September 11, 1897 before her country became independent from Spain.

CNN reports that in September Guinness World Records was verifying her documents to certify her as the oldest living person.
