TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — One man is custody following an aggravated domestic situation Sunday evening in Tooele County that forced the brief closure of SR-73.

According to Lt. Eli Wayman of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, there were two males living in a homeless camp near the 5-mile pass. One man put a gun to the chest of the other and threatened to kill him.

Police were notified of the situation a little after 6 p.m. Authorities from Tooele County, Utah County, Utah Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Land Management set up containment. That containment included the closure of SR-73, which was closed for less than a hour.

According to Wayman, the suspect had a vehicle, so authorities didn’t want him to try and escape.

Authorities then reached the suspect by phone, and were able to take him into custody without incident.
