SALT LAKE CITY — A veteran Utah lawmaker, Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, will resign later this month from the Utah House of Representatives.

The veteran representative is familiar with the department he’ll go to work for. He serves on the Legislature’s Health & Human Services Committee and chairs the Social Services Appropriations Subcommittee.
Ray plans to resign from the Legislature effective Dec. 15, starting his new job the next day.
The Utah Department of Health and the Utah Department of Human Services will merge next July. According to the Human Services department, Ray’s new job will be a part of that transition.
The Davis County Republican Party will hold a special election later this year to fill the vacancy. Ray is the third Utah legislator to resign in the last two months.
