Meteorologists say rain and snow are headed to northern Utah this week

SALT LAKE CITY — KSL Meteorologists and the National Weather Service say that our weeks of relatively calm weather are going to change this week.
On Monday morning, KSL’s Grant Weyman said that the first of two winter storms will begin moving across northern Utah today, with a 30% chance for a mix of rain and snow in the valley and snow in the northern mountains beginning around noon Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance for snow increases to 50% by Monday night. Rain and snow are expected to taper off by Tuesday morning.
Snow accumulations are expected to be minimal from the initial wave of this storm.
By Wednesday night, more rain is expected and that rain will likely turn to snow in the overnight hours ahead of Thursday.
The other big change for northern Utahns will be the temperature this week. The National Weather Service says we’ll start off the week with highs in the upper 40s and lows at freezing or below.
Thursday night could be especially cold. The National Weather Service says the low on Thursday night could reach to just 20 degrees.
