WEBER COUNTY, Utah — Weber County Search and Rescue were called out to help a stranded hunter Saturday afternoon.

According to Lt. Mark Horton of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, a call from the hunter’s friends came in about 3 p.m.

The 32-year-old hunter, along with his dogs, was stranded about a mile up 9th Street. According to authorities, the man was hunting and got cliffed out – meaning the hunter was in such a technical area that he could neither go up nor down. Authorities say the man had slipped 30 to 40 feet into a ravine.

As a result, authorities say it was a very technical rescue, and three teams were needed in the rescue operation. The teams had to use a harness and rappel him down.

However, authorities say the man was dressed for the conditions, and no injuries were reported from the incident. The man was able to walk out on his own.
