STANSBURY PARK, Utah — North Tooele Fire District Chief Randy Willden has submitted his resignation, effective Saturday, Dec. 11.

His resignation came one day after the North Tooele Fire District made a decision to place him on paid administrative leave following an internal allegation of wrongdoing. The decision to place him on leave came during a closed-door meeting of a scheduled board meeting. The reason behind placing him on leave is not being disclosed, pending the outcome of a third-party investigation.

Willden first joined the North Tooele First District in 2011. He has also served in a variety of firefighting roles around Utah for more than 38 years.

The North Tooele Fire District serves more than 1,700 square miles of Tooele County. That includes Stansbury Park, Lake Point, Pine Canyon, and Erda. Currently, the department has more than 40 Firefighters, both paid and volunteer.

The department will provide no further comment until the investigation is completed.
