LOGAN, Utah — A 33-year-old Logan man was taken into custody last week for allegedly using Facebook to spread child porn.

Thay B. Paw was arrested for investigation of two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, which is a second-degree felony.

According to the probable cause statement, Logan police received the case earlier this year after a tip from someone on Facebook.

Also, according to police documents, Facebook said it had discovered a user by the name of “Saw Ko” had sent a video containing child pornography to another user.

Authorities issued a warrant for Saw Ko’s Facebook information. Additionally, a subpoena was issued for the IP address.

The information for Saw Ko was eventually tracked down to Paw’s residence in Logan.

After authorities found Paw at his work, he was taken to the Logan City Police Station.

Paw admitted to using Facebook under the name of Saw Ko. When specifically asked about the child pornography video he shared on the social media platform, Paw stated that he couldn’t remember it. He recalled sending other pornographic videos to the other individual, but not one of the children.

Police found images and videos of pornography on Paw’s phone, but no additional child pornography.

Paw was booked into the Cache County Jail.

At an arraignment hearing in 1st District Court on Monday, the prosecution asked that Paw be held without bail. The prosecution said Paw is a danger to the community.

However, the judge in the case set bail at $50,000 and ordered Paw to not have access to the Internet if he is released.
