PAYSON, Utah — The daily fishing limit has been increased at Spring Lake ahead of scheduled repairs that require the lake to be drained.

Through March 18, 2022, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources will allow anglers to catch and keep eight fish at the community fishing pond in Payson. The previous daily limit was two fish.

“We’d like anglers to be able to harvest these fish, so they aren’t wasted,” DWR Sportfish Coordinator Randy Oplinger said. “We hope people can get out and catch a lot of these fish before the pond is drained.”

Available fish found at Spring Lake include rainbow trout, wiper, brook trout, tiger trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, and carp. There is currently no limit on the number of carp an angler can remove from Spring Lake.

The DWR said that once the repairs are complete and the pond is refilled with water, it will be restocked with rainbow trout, channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and wiper.

The increased fishing limit at Spring Lake will end on March 18, 2022.
