DWR seeks information on bull elk illegally killed

CEDAR CITY, Utah — The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for the illegal killing of a bull elk in Kane County.

On Dec. 12, officials with the DWR received information of an individual shooting at a herd of elk in the area of County Road 3035 on the Glendale Bench, east of Glendale.

A witness to the incident reported seeing two individuals in a black truck stopped on the road. 

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a dead bull elk that had been shot and left to waste. The dead elk was within 125 yards of where the shots had been fired.

The witness described the two individuals as two males in their 20s and 30s.

In 2021, the DWR investigated the illegal killing of 1,153 animals valued at more than $610,00.
