Think about the last time you used crutches, a medical boot, or even a wheelchair. Many of us only use this type of equipment for a short period of time and then it sits in our closets collecting dust. Project Embrace in Salt Lake City accepts, restores, and redistributes these devices to patients worldwide who would otherwise have trouble accessing them.

By doing this they are not only providing an innovative solution to under-represented communities, but they are also redefining sustainability in healthcare. As a non-profit they are able to find those who really need these supplies, like refugees, and those experiencing homelessness, but don’t have access to them, providing them with the proper equipment to heal.

Since Project Embrace began, they have gathered hundreds of medical devices from the local community that has helped patients in developing countries get the medical technology they need. To request a device, volunteer, or donate visit projectembrace.org.

SelectHealth recognizes the sustainability impact made by Project Embrace as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
