CENTERVILLE, Utah — The Utah Department of Transportation is working to fix some damage on northbound I-15 in Centerville this afternoon.

The left lanes are currently blocked, with heavy delays that are stacking and only expected to get worse as it gets later in the day.

“We were actually doing some work on the West Davis Corridor project,” said UDOT spokesman John Gleason. “We were installing utility lines underneath I-15 there… and during the boring, drilling, they hit something that was unexpected and caused the pavement to go up about 8-10 inches.”

Gleason says there was a jagged edge to the bump, so that’s why they wanted to close the lanes.

“Now we’re just out there working on the pavement repairs,” said Gleason. “Our crews are working to get the affected asphalt out, and new asphalt is on its way.”

UDOT doesn’t estimate to clear the area until 5 o’clock tonight. Your best alternate routes could be Highway 89 or Legacy Parkway for your drive north home.
