Super Bowl heritage flight flyover will feature Utah pilots

SALT LAKE CITY — Several pilots with ties to Utah will be take part in the Super Bowl LVI, Feb. 13, in Inglewood, California. 

Maj. Garret “Toro” Schmitz and Maj. Kristin “BEO” Wolfe will be among the five pilots taking part in a first-of-its-kind Super Bowl flyover, during the national anthem at SoFi Stadium.

It will feature aircraft representing the Air Force’s 75 years as a service.

Schmitz, who’s from Price, Utah, will pilot the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Here’s Mag. Schmitz promotional video.


 

Wolfe will pilot the F-35 Lightning. She is stationed at Hill Air Force Base with the Lightning II Demonstration Team.

Wolfe recently gave a hint of what’s to come from her flight in this promotional video.


 

Another pilot will fly a P-51 Mustang in the flyover from the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation in Chino, California. This aircraft was used during World War II.
