(Salt Lake City, UT) — Donna Edith Smith Packer, wife of the late President Boyd K. Packer (1924–2015), former president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at her home Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 10:25 p.m. from causes incident to age. She was 94.
According to a release sent out Sunday morning, the Brigham City, Utah native will “be remembered for her strong believe in the eternal nature of families, and was precious to her husband and honored by her children.”
She was born October 20, 1927 to William Waldamer Smith and Nellie Edith Jordan, the only daughter and oldest of four children. From her youth, she showed a keen interest in family history. She took family history courses from Brigham Young University, and in 2012, at age 84, the graduate of Weber State College earned a certificate in family history.
The Packers were the parents of 10 children. She is survived by a posterity of more than 200 members.
