SALT LAKE CITY — The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum announced its partnership with Macey’s grocery store. The partnership will update the museum’s grocery store exhibit in coming weeks.

Updates include changing the branding in the exhibit from Harmons to Macey’s branding. The update will also add activities, grocery replicas, and a photo op with Macey’s mascot; a giant gorilla named Kong.

The museum said kids will be able to “shop” the exhibit for fake grocery items and ring up on real scanners.

“This exhibit enhances children’s ability to use their imagination to play make-believe and also encourages children to improve their social skills as they take turns working together in different roles as cashier, baker, or shopper,” said Discovery Gateway CEO and Executive Director Kathleen Bodenlos.

The grocery store is just one of several exhibits the museum offers.

Other interactive exhibits include a bank, auto shop, and farm, according to the museum’s website

The museum’s website states that these exhibits offer “interactive learning through play.”

The museum said its mission is to encourage kids to connect with their world in order to make a difference.
