The open house for the renovated temple will begin Friday, June 3. It will run through Saturday, June 18, with the exceptions of June 5 and 12.

Church youth will gather in a nearby meetinghouse on Saturday, July 2 for a devotional.

The Tokyo Japan Temple will then be rededicated on Sunday, July 3 in three sessions. Those sessions will be at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency, will preside at the rededication.

Additionally, all three sessions of the rededication and the youth devotional will be broadcast to Church members in within the temple district.

There are more than 130,000 Church members in roughly 260 congregations in Japan.

According to a Church press release, the main purpose of temples is for faithful members to take part in sacred ceremonies. These sacred ceremonies include marriages and proxy baptisms on behalf of deceased ancestors.
