MOAB, Utah — Changes are coming to Arches National Park, just in time for spring break and summer vacation.
Starting April 3, visitors will have to obtain a reservation to get into the park. The pilot program will last until October 3, 2022.
The goal is to have fewer days with signs outside the park saying it’s full.
Tickets will be available three months in advance in monthly blocks. A few tickets will be reserved for sale the night before.
Due to the Park’s popularity, officials expect the tickets to go fast.
There were a record 1.8 million visitors to Arches in 2021. Park officials said they’ve had a steady 66% increase in visitors between 2009 and 2019.
Visitors can book reservations first-come, first-served on Recreation.gov. And they’ll need to bring an I.D. to the park entrance.
