WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City police responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment early Thursday morning, but nobody is in police custody yet.

Spokesman Bill Merrett said the shots were heard around 1595 West 3395 South at 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Merrett said that video from a Ring doorbell camera shows four or five people who were arguing. It was at that point that the shots were fired, but the video ends there.

When police arrived they said multiple people who were on bicycles tried to flee the area. Merrett said the people on the bikes claimed they weren’t involved in the shooting and were only trying to get to safety.

There was no sign of property damage, and police said they found no proof of serious injury to anybody.

West Valley City police said they have one person of interest in this case.
