Family displaced following a house fire in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake City family has been displaced following a house fire Tuesday evening, Salt Lake City fire officials say.

According to the Salt Lake City Fire Department, crews responded to call of a structure fire at 2228 South Lake Street at 7:48 p.m.

Officials say the fire was put out in 30 minutes. Additionally, officials also say all residence of the house were able to make it out on their own. However, firefighters were successfully able to rescue two dogs and a bird. 

According to officials, some of the ceiling collapsed as a result of the fire, which stretched into the attic.

It is not known if the displaced family will be staying with family or get assistance from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
