21-year-old man dies in St. George car crash

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A 21-year-old man died Wednesday night in a single car accident in St. George, according to police.

Police say the accident happened at roughly 100 South Bluff Street at 8:15 p.m. Witnesses told police the vehicle had been driving erratically just before the crash occurred. 

According to police, the white sedan was driving northbound on Bluff Street, when it crossed the southbound lanes and collided with the culvert that is the driveway into a mortuary. 

The man had to be extricated from the vehicle. According to police, he was rushed to St. George Regional Hospital with significant injuries. Police say he was rushed into surgery but died from his injuries.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash. Additionally, police also say the man was not wearing a seat belt.

The Accident Reconstruction Team from the St. George Police Department responded and processed the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
