SANTAQUIN, Utah — Emergency personnel responded to a semi-truck fire Tuesday morning at a Maverik convenience store.

When first responders arrived on scene at 8:50 a.m., the cab of the semi was fully engulfed, according to emergency personnel.

The driver had picked up a load in Nephi and was en route to American Fork when he stopped for fuel. As he was parked at the pump, the driver started noticing smoke coming from engine. The driver made an effort to put out the fire with a small extinguisher but was unsuccessful.

The driver hit the emergency fuel shutoff and proceeded to call for assistance. The store was evacuated with no injuries being reported from the incident.

Fire crews from both Santaquin and Payson rapidly put the fire out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
