SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah police say that a bomb threat called into the Eccles Health Sciences Library on Friday morning was a hoax.

Officials were made aware of the threat by an unnamed local media entity, who said someone had called them with the threat.

The health sciences library was evacuated as police conducted a search. At that point police determined the bomb threat was a hoax.

University of Utah Police Interim Police Chief Jason Hinojosa said there is no threat to the campus. However, an investigation continues and includes the FBI.  According to Hinojosa, that agency said the person who made the threat lives outside the state of Utah, and has not been in the state recently.

On Friday morning, University Police said the area around the Eccles Health Sciences Library and Health Sciences Education Building were clear.
