Davis School District approves teacher compensation package

FARMINGTON, Utah — The Davis School District Board of Education approved a teacher compensation package Tuesday night, which includes a 5% base salary increase.

According to a press release from Davis School District, the package also includes a one-time, two-installment payment, which totals 2% of the employee’s salary. And a one-time payment reflecting 32 additional hours of prep time.

According to the school district, that is a compensation increase of 11.47% for veteran teachers. The district also says that new teachers will earn additional compensation for orientation training they receive at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. 

The approval for the compensation package comes after nearly three months of negotiation between the Davis Education Association and the school district.

Also on Tuesday night, the Board also approved the agreement between Davis Education Support Professionals and the school district. A 5% base salary increase is included in the agreement. In all, this agreement has an 8.8% total increase in compensation. 

Additionally, there will not be an increased cost of insurance for district employees. Nor will there be changes to current insurance plans.

“We’ve done a nice job of cost containment,” Davis School District Business Administrator Craig Carter said in a press release.

The district says the compensation packages, that have been agreed upon, will now be sent to the general membership of the DEA and DESP for ratification consideration.
