OREM, Utah — The Office of the State Auditor says the city of Orem did not do anything wrong in the selection of a company for a school feasibility study.

The city of Orem hired Discovery Education Consultants to perform a school feasibility study. The study would help the city decide if it should create its own school district.

However, several people have voiced their concern about the company and how it was selected. One city resident filed a complaint with the Office of the State Auditor. The complaint alleges a conflict of interest in the how the company was selected.

The state said, however, it wasn’t anything on the level of breaking the law.

The complaint also said the city favored one company over another. However, the auditor’s office said, legally, the city doesn’t have to have a competitive bidding process.
